  21. Entering Start Time Remember: you have a built in Cheat-Sheet REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP DAYTON OH 2 DAYTON CONV CENTER B 8 X 03/14/07 X 14 00 16 X 14 14 B A BEARCATS RAMS 14 X 3c 5 7 9 11 1 4 6c 8 10 12 2 X • The starting time for the set is when the first referee beckons for service • The time is entered in Pen • Use International time. Ex: 2 PM = 14:00 • The set starts at 2:14 PM. List the start time as (14:14)

  22. Scoring the Set • ü(tic) the number in the upper right corner of service round box for each correct server when they CONTACT the ball for service • If it is the wrong server- DO NOT ü the number in the service round box. Only enter the Exit Score (Total Team Score) Do not notify the 2nd Referee until after the wrong server has contacted the ball • DO NOT üthe service round box if the server fails to serve in the 8 seconds and a loss of rally is issued without contact of the ball • DO NOT ü the service round box if a Server tosses a ball and lets it drop • DO NOT ü the service round box if the last point of the set is scored on a loss of rally. Just enter the set point as the exit score for the next server • For the first rotation ü boxes with the number 1. For the second rotation ü boxes with the number 2 and so on. Note: 14 and under are allowed to toss the ball and let it drop one time per service and they are only allowed 5 seconds to serve the ball.

  23. Ticking the Service Round Box. REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP DAYTON OH 2 DAYTON CONV CENTER B 8 X 03/14/07 X 14 00 16 X 14 14 B A RAMS BEARCATS 14 X 4 6c 8 10 12 2 3c 5 7 9 11 1 ü X Once the set begins you may use Penor Pencil. ü the number 1 for the first server who is Bearcats #2 when #2 contacts the ball. Do Not ü before they contact the ball, they could have an 8 second violation. Make a small ü that only covers the number. X

  24. Scoring the Set X B 14 14 A BEARCATS RAMS 14 X 4 6c 8 10 12 2 3c 5 7 9 11 1 ü X 1 Bearcats #2 scores a point. Slash point 1 in the points column. Bearcats #2 serves again. You do not do anything on the score sheet, but you must visually check that #2 was the server. Bearcats #2 serve out of bounds. At the end of #2’s service enter the EXIT SCORE- (The total team score at the end of the service) in the service round box. Bearcats have 1 point. Now slash the loss of rally point for Rams in their Points column. X

  25. Scoring the Set X B 14 14 A BEARCATS RAMS 14 X / / 4 6c 8 10 12 2 3c 5 7 9 11 1 ü ü X 1 3 The server for Rams is # 3c. After they contact the ball for service ü the service round box. Rams #3 scores with an Ace. Slash Point 2. Rams #3 serves and scores point 3 Slash point 3. #3 then commits a Foot Fault while serving. Nothing Needs to be recorded for a Foot Fault. Since the Foot Fault is the end of #3’s service enter the Exit Score of 3. Now slash the loss of rally point for Bearcats in their Points column. X

  26. Scoring the Set X A B BEARCATS 14 14 RAMS 14 X / / 4 6c 8 10 12 1 3c 2 5 7 9 11 / / / / / / / / / / / / / ü ü ü ü ü ü ü ü ü ü ü X 7 3 4 5 6 1 3 4 5 7 8 Continue going back and forth between the two teams. Tic ( ) the service box 1 for each player. Slash all points scored. Record an exit score and a loss of rally point at the end of each player’s term of service. When you are done with the Service round boxes with the number 1, go to boxes number 2, then 3 and so on. ü

  27. Scoring Tips • If a Replay is awarded, the scorekeeper records nothing on the score sheet • If A Mind Change occurs, (1st referee reverses a call) erase or white out any changes to the score sheet • If you have a mistake on the Pen sections and have no white out tape you may X out the mistake and write the correct information immediately following the X

  28. Scoring Tips • The Receiving team always starts the 2nd round of service boxes first because they rotate into service. X B A 14 14 BEARCATS RAMS X 14 / / / / / / / / / 4 8 10 12 6c 2 3c 5 7 9 11 1 / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / X ü ü ü ü ü ü ü ü ü ü ü 1 3 7 8 9 10 3 7 13 15 19 ü

  29. Scoring Tips • Make sure at the beginning of each service that you have awarded the loss of rally point. NO TWO EXIT SCORES for one team should be the same, they will have earned a loss of rally point • Rams’ # 1 serves their first serve into the net Should the Exit Score be 19? • No, the last exit score was 19 • Side-out point 20 has been missed. Slash 20 and give the Exit score of 20 X A B 14 14 BEARCATS RAMS 14 X / / / / / / / / / 4 8 10 12 3c 5 7 9 11 6c 2 1 / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / X ü ü ü ü ü ü ü ü ü ü ü 3 7 13 15 19 1 3 7 8 9 10 ü 20

  30. SUBSTITUTIONS • Each team gets 12 Team Substitutions • There is no limit to the number of individual substitutions • Once a player is listed in a service column, they may not substitute in any other service column, unless there is an Exceptional Substitution due to injury • More than 2 players may be in the same service column, but those players are locked into that service position • (Example on next slide)

  31. Recording A Substitution X B BEARCATS A RAMS 14 14 14 X c 4 8 10 12 18 3c 5 7 9 11 6c 2 1 • Bearcats substitute #18 for #6 • Slash #6 and c - write #18 next to #6 • Enter the score at time of substitution listing Bearcats score first, 2-6 • Slash the total team sub • The new floor captain will be #10, write a c next to #10 • Note: When #6 re-enters they automatically become the floor captain again 2 6 X ü ü ü ü 1 2 3
