  2. What is a recording company? Klein, Allison November 5th,2013 "How Record Labels Work" http://entertainment.howstuffworks.com/record-label1.htm Date accessed October 23rd,2013 A record company is a place where artist go to and get a contract with the company and produce songs, they also pay for everything that needs to be done to make a CD. This can include recording, mixing, mastering and pressing for e.g. Warner Brothers Records. They also give the artist money for them to live on as the CD is being made and whatever profits they get from the CD it helps them to repay the money. One area of the recording company/label is the ‘Promotion Department’. Basically their main job is to advertise their artist whether on the radio or TV. This is to ensure the future success of the recording label.

For e.g. KWP which is Kent Wells Productions. The agency is for artist who aspire to be performers. Agencies can help you with/assist in: personal imaging, production, live performance, shopping record deals, travel and showcase coordination.

An e.g. of this is MU which is Musicians’ Union. They are useful in help with Insurance schemes, Legal assistance, Nationwide network, Career & business advice, Teacher services.

Unions help assist artist in life so they can be secure if anything happens like MU. While agencies guide or advice the artist in what they should do, which record company they should sign with like KWP. A recording label really puts the artist out their by, promoting them in public like on the radio, live preformanes, posters even like Warner Brothers Company. Record labels trys to make the artist known to the public so they can ensure a sucessful career like.If they all cordinated it will be very easy for them.
