  2. Balance Setup 1. Move all three sliders all the way to the left. • Check to see if the balance reads zero. • If your balance isn’t reading zero so you need to turn the thumbscrew until it reaches zero

  3. Balance Setup • Place the object on the pan. • Start with the largest sliders. Move them over until the balance tips. Then move back 1 space. • Do the same with the next slider. • Use the smallest slider to get the balance to zero.

  4. Reminders • Zero the balance first! • The two largest sliders MUST be IN A GROOVE! • Add all the amounts up to get the total weight.

  5. Reading Sliders • Read each of the sliders and add their weights together. The sliders indicate the mass is: 373 g

  6. Reading Sliders • When you read the last slider, notice that the smaller lines represent tenths. Back Next

  7. Reading Sliders • This measurement is past the third line following the 3 on small slider. This indicates a mass of: 373.3 g
