Food Chain The Eastern Oyster eats Phytoplankton then the oyster becomes food for other fishes. Linked citation goes here Return to Exhibit
Cloudy Water If the oysters does not eat plenty of Phytoplankton the water will become cloudy since there would be too many phytoplanktons. Linked citation goes here Return to Exhibit
Problems! Other water plants would not be able to get sunlight and they might die because the oyster would be dead and wouldn’t be able to eat phytoplankton's and if there’s too many phytoplankton’s they would block the sunlight. Linked citation goes here Return to Exhibit

Life Span Life Span: An oyster in the Chesapeake bay lives approximately 30-40 years but the longest life span recorded is around 80 years. Linked citation goes here Return to Exhibit
Filter Feeding The eastern oyster filter feeds. They feed by opening their shells and pumping water through their gills to filter out plankton and other particles.. Linked citation goes here Return to Exhibit
