Sr. Social Engagement Strategist, Online Community Expert, Digital Experience Consultant and online gamer. • “I was engaged in social before they called it Social!” • Most of my career has been spent at Sprint, and most recently responsible for spearheading an online customer care community, developing a new Social Care strategy with specialized agents via online support, resulting in $16M of savings the first year. • Award-Winning Digital Solutions Expert recognized for executing original ideas, driving adoption, generating efficiencies and implementing innovative strategies. • Founding member of Buzz About Wireless, the first Telco customer community, and the first Sprint Agent supported Community. • As the CEO and consultant at SociAlley Acceptable, I have done everything from design and build personal websites to serving as the CFO for small construction company. • I play several games more than I should, but not as much as I would like.   3. Class discussion How do you access Social Media most often? Phone/Tablet or Computer? Which phone do you have? Android, iPhone, Other? • If you don’t have a phone, do you have a computer? • Is it yours or do you share it? Which apps do you use the most? What do you like about them? Why do you choose one over another? How often do you use a computer/laptop versus your phone? How many hours a day do you think you spend online?

  4. Good or Bad? With so many websites and apps, It’s hard to know the difference between a good and bad. You always have a choice, choose wisely. Do you know the difference?

  5. Phishing, one of many bad things…on the internet! Is this real or fake? In order to know what to look for when examining the URL, you need to know how a URL is constructed.

Bad Habits • Bullying or shaming others: The worst • Going viral: Doing something stupid, and potentially harmful to get attention: Tide Pods • Posting party pictures where you look wasted • Taking risqué photos. • Peer pressure: Be a leader, not a minion All of these examples can have a huge impact on your future. Even if you do these things in private, they don’t always stay that way. Consider the impact on potential employers, family members and some day, your own children. Think before you act, choose wisely, life is a choice you make everyday.

Making good habits • Don’t overshare – no one really needs to see that • don’t be negative – if you don’t have anything nice to say, does anyone really care? • Unfriend or Block - People you don’t really know, • Use Common Sense.- be smart, people always think “it can’t happen to me. it can.. • Google yourself – Often, view the images , Videos, etc Use technology wisely – There is so much you can learn on the internet, both good and bad. The choices you make will determine your life. Balance technology with real world. Experience counts for more than you can imagine. Knowledge and Intelligence are 2 different things. Homework • Take out your phone, Check the settings of each application. • Remove apps you do not use • Remove access to apps that share your data • Review and Turn off apps that have access to your microphone • Go to your Computer and check your Privacy Settings • Check your Privacy Settings on your Social Media Accounts • Check your Friend list, if you don’t know them, unfriend them • Google yourself, look at the images that come up, this is what others see about you

Think Twice • Understand the technology you are using and what you are allowing access to your info. • Always choose a private profile if there isn’t an option, ask yourself, is this something you really need? • Make sue you read the privacy policy before you share your home address or phone number: • Just because you follow a brand or person doesn’t mean you need to allow them to follow you. What’s your favorite brand? Do you know the people who work there? • Don’t be friends with someone you have never met, even if they show they are friends of your friends. But If you choose to be friends with someone you have never met, be aware of questions they start asking you. • Tell your parents this one: on Facebook, if you get a message or post that’s says “copy and paste” this. Just DON’T. it is spam 100% of the time. And those questions they ask, are likely all hints to your “secret questions”

Remember • Private isn’t really private - someone sharing a screenshot makes it instantly public • False identities • Internet predators – yes it really happens • Trolls & Zombies – yes they exist • Limit your personal information • Google yourself – this is what other people see when the look for you on the internet • Potential employers/Finding a job – LinkedIn • If you share content someone else created, they now have information about you, and every person who interacted with the content. • do not share content from an unknown source in messenger, you are sharing your friends info when you do
