(amazon) (literary): a tall strong woman • Menace: • As a noun: • 1. a person or thing that will probably cause serious damage, harm or danger (syn.: threat) • Ex. The new law is a new initiative aimed at beating the menace of illegal drugs.

The women wore veils in deference to the customs of the country. • The flags were lowered out of deference to the bereaved family.
