In Year 3, reading is effectively taught through daily half-hour phonics sessions tailored to children's abilities. This targeted grouping allows teachers to support those needing extra help while challenging confident readers. Throughout the year, guided reading sessions enhance skills, and additional small-group work focuses on literacy. Reading transcends lessons, as children engage in various activities including using the internet, reading with buddies, and participating in Reading Cafés. Encouraging home reading is also vital, with students changing their books regularly and earning points for home reading efforts.
