NYHL Coaches Meeting - Important Information for the 2016-2017 Season

This document provides important updates and reminders for coaches participating in the NYHL for the 2016-2017 season.   1. 2016-2017 NYHL Coaches Meeting

  2. Administration Have you…….. • Signed today’s attendance register?

  3. Tiering • Final Tiering documents to be submitted by Nov 25th. • Week of Dec 5th the committee will send out proposed tierings • Clubs will respond to 1st draft by Dec 8 • Final tiers will be published on or before Dec 15th.

  4. Team Staff Changing Clubs • Team Staff who switch clubs to coach in the same birth year (ie Novice- Minor Atom must get a release from previous club) • House League to Select to Rep included

  5. Protests and Appeals • Protests must be in the NYHL office within 48 hours ($150 fee) • No appeal for suspensions fewer than 6 games

  6. Gate Fees • All players must pay $5 gate fee • All spectators between the ages of 15 and 64 must pay the $5 gate fee • Until November 1st team staff ( up to 4 members) can sign in • Failure to pay the gate fee will result in a fine of $150 to the team. This includes players and spectators.

  7. Suspensions • Team staff must pick up game sheets and look for suspendable penalties • Queries and complaints to the league must go through Club Contact

  8. AP Players • Players from the House League or the Select age group below • AP’s must be noted on all copies of the Game Sheets • Minor Peewee and below can play up only 1 age group. PW and above can play up 2 age groups • AP players after Jan 15th ( 5 games) • Playoff AP’s

  9. Minimum Bench • Tyke- Bantam minimum 15 • Minor Midget and Above is 13 • Enforced by the league for each game

  10. Default in Playoffs • Serious fine and expulsion from playoffs • Games continue during March break • If you are unable to ice a sufficient numbers of players, we ask that you withdraw the team rather than to disrupt the schedule.

  11. Bad Weather Policy • Cancelled games will be posted on the NYHL website • Local Toronto radio stations will also be notified of any cancellations. • Please refrain from calling the office

  13. NYHL Scheduling 3 week rolling schedule No games between Dec 24 and Jan 1 and on Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Sunday

  14. Game Times • Tyke- Novice (running time- Oct 31, Nov 15, Dec 1) • M.Atom- Min Bantam 10-10-10 • Bantam- U21 10-10-12 • Check the Semis and Finals on gamesheet • 5 goal spread rule • Teams ready 15 minutes prior to start time

  15. No Show Policy • 10 minutes on clock • After 10 minutes…. 30 minute run time for team that is present

  16. Tournaments and Exception Days • 3 tournaments plus Xmas and Easter • Tournament exemptions are 3 days only • 2 additional exemption days ( club events, extra travel days, etc) • Applications for above must be submitted 5 weeks in advance….Form on coaches portal • Gamesheets must be legible • 48 hours upon completion of the event

  17. All Star Nominations • Ballot on coaches portal • Must be submitted by March 15th • Goalie selections • Please DO NOT tell the kids they have been nominated as all listed players may not be selected

  19. Rules Emphasis • CTH- (minor, double minor, major plus GM, Match) • CFB (2+GM, 5+GM, Match) • Slew Footing (double minor +GM, Match) • All 5 min majors incur a GM and a subsequent suspension • GM99 (unlocked doors, coaches across the ice)

  20. Start Of Game Procedure • 2 minutes on clock • :30 left • Team least ready

  21. End Of Game Procedure • Referee to direct coach to hold bench • One team exits at a time • Dressing room door must be open ( GM99) • Pick up copy of the gamesheet form referee

  22. Injured Players • Injured players must sit out 1 stoppage of play • If players leaves game due to injury, a HC report must be submitted within 48 hours • Visiting a practitioner due to injury, must have a note to return to play

  23. Challenge of Champions • Event is for Tyke - Bantam • Championship team must be available to play • Players must be present to receive trophies • Older ages will receive their prize upon completion of series

  24. Timeouts • There are NO timeouts in any NYHL game

ProSmart Hockey • Interactive Videos and Practice Plans • Associations can register online at http://www.prosmarthockey.com/association-signup/ • Registration gives Association Executives: • High-level access to all 6 divisions (initiation - midget) • The ability to invite your entire community • Free Of Charge

  27. ProSmart Hockey • Insight into how your community is using the resource • Free Of Charge • Next week, you will receive an invite to register your association from the NYHL
