  1. Fifth Year Orientation BAC Choices

  2. Introduction • Very important year • Need to make INFORMED choices • What will you do? • Research: read, talk, internet • Who will help? • Teachers • Parents • Parents’ Friends • Your Friends • Past Students • Internet • Universities • UCAS website • Alternative (student) websites

  3. How will you decide? • DO make decisions based on the following: • Am I INTERESTED in the subject? • Could I do it for another 2, 5, 10 years? • Have I researched fully what is expected? • Will this decision be GOOD for me? • What to AVOID .... • Avoid decisions based on what your friends are doing • Avoid decisions based on what you are told you can earn most money doing • Avoid decisions based on ‘difficulty’ of subject • Avoid decisions which are NOT your own

  4. 3: Creation of 2nd sondage based on choices Feb 2: First sondage Feb Sondage Timeline 2011-2012 1:Sondage Dec2011/Jan 2012 Return of 2nd Sondage End of Feb 5:Timetabling for 2012 Mar - Jun 6:Finalisation of timetables Sept 2012

  5. WRITTEN ORAL 6) 1) 7) 2) 8) 3) 4) 5) L1 (or L1 App) L1 (or L1 App) L2 (or L2App) or Hist or Geog L2 (or L2 App) 8p Math ou (2P Bio or 2P Philo or 4P option with limits) 3h or 5h Maths 4hOption 4hOption • THE SUB-RULES THAT (I THINK) COVER EVERYTHING: • No 2h subject may be taken as a written exam (& no Complementary Course anywhere) • 2. No subject other than L1, L2 and Maths may appear twice

  6. Whatyouneed to know … • Students who have taken Appro in LI must do the oral for this course and not for the LI course. • If students who have taken L2 Appro choose to take it as an oral, they cannot take L2 normal as the oral exam. • If a student only chooses TWO 4 hour options. BOTH must be taken as a written exam. • You are, therefore, strongly recommended to take THREE 4 hour options. • Students should make sure that their choices permit them to take FIVE (5) written exams, and THREE (3) oral exams for their finalBAC.
