Current situation • About 45 full and part-time positions. 8 – 10 interns in the summer. • 20+ programs • 12-15 funding sources • ~ 12 year history with current organization • Declining budgets, challenges ahead • Collecting less data than in past • We do a pretty good job at what we do, but we can do better.

Purpose • To better organize the Watershed Management Bureau to gain efficiencies, better focus on mission critical tasks and to better utilized the skills and experience of WMB staff. • To be better placed to handle opportunities (eg. new grants) and challenges (eg. Federal budget cuts) without deterioration of core mission activities. • To better define the role of WMB within DES and relative to other organizations throughout the state. • To better communicate the information and products that WMB creates and houses.
