Allow me to introduce myself –Mrs. Sheryl Davis • BA in English Literature from Davidson College • Masters in Secondary English Education from Kennesaw State University • From a family of English teachers – my mom taught me AP Literature • I have 3 daughters – I’m a Walton parent like you
American Literature - 112 • Chronologically organized – Colonial, Revolutionary, and Romantic periods of American literature are covered this semester • Types of readings include histories, sermons, nonfiction selections, journals, poetry, autobiography, and drama
Parallel readings – please help your student locate a copy for class! • The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne • The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass (an autobiography) • The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail by Robert Edwin Lee an Jerome Lawrence
Vocabulary studies • Every other week a unit quiz (20 words) • Technology feature (QR code) allows students to download words to their technology device (iphone, itouch, ipad, etc.)
