  4. Management Topic • Persuasion • per·suade: To induce to undertake a course of action or embrace a point of view by means of argument, reasoning, or entreaty.

  5. Effective Persuasion Model • Develop personal skills • Know Personnel • Create A Plan • Meet individually with personnel • Meet with Group

Develop personal skills: • Creditability - follow words with actions, take constructive criticism from experts, use peer testimonials to gain creditability • Nurture relationships – develop solid personal and working relationships, listen to others, be fair and consistent, place peoples’ needs first • Develop enthusiasm – influence people, show strong interest for proposals • Develop optimism – view failures as opportunities to grow, “never give up” attitude

  7. Know personnel: • Behavioural skills • principle of liking, • reciprocity, • social proof, • consistency, • authority, • scarcity • Needs and wants • Beliefs, attitudes, and values • Strengths and weaknesses

  8. Create a Plan: • Define goals – focus and create an agenda • Consolidate evidence and arguments – present evidence, facts • Determine sources of resistance – can cause conflicts and affect efforts

Meet individually with personnel: • Understanding - Determine person’s mood, communicate with a loud and clear tone, ask open-ended questions, encourage people • Present arguments and evidence – use facts to prove claims • Listen and show empathy – demonstrate patience and interest in conversations, respect feelings • Connect emotionally – match your emotions with the audience’s, review arguments and update them.

Importance of our topic • Persuasion forces you to ask yourself: • Do people buy into your ideas?   • Can you convince the people around you that the world can be a better place?   • Are you able to get the support and resources you need to be successful? • Are you able to communicate to the world what you have to offer?

Importance of our topic • “Persuasion is often more effectual than force.” – Aesop • Persuasion is the ability to influence. • Persuasion is the most important skill you can develop.  • Without it, your ideas won’t get traction.  • Without influence, you won’t get the resources or support you need.  • Without influence, you won’t be able to communicate your unique value to the world. • Persuasion is the Ultimate Skill for Creating Change

Software tool: Prezi • Used for presenting and conveying messages in a professional conference, group, or a simple class presentation. • It is something new, different that adds more flavour and excitement in presentations. • It is a cloud-based presentation software and storytelling tool for presenting ideas on a virtual canvas. • Offers much more than an average PowerPoint can. • Has been used to great effect by business officials right down to simple class presentations as well
