The Global Vision Education for Life project focuses on nurturing children's nutrition and educational needs, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals. Through activities like counseling, mental health treatment, and educational sessions, the project aims to provide holistic support to children in various homes, including those for mentally challenged individuals. As part of the plan of action for 2017-18, milestones such as starting educational counseling and expanding nutritional programs have been achieved. Capacity building programs cover areas like sexual health, gender sensitization, and life skills education, addressing critical issues affecting children today. The project also includes HIV awareness, de-addiction programs, and initiatives promoting overall well-being for a brighter future.

THE GLOBAL VISION Education for life project helps the children attains the nutritional intake and calorific requirement of a child and education to develop their future. EDUCATION FOR LIFE ACTIVITIES • Counselling with the children at the 7 homes • Treatment for mental health illnesses • Networking meetings • Banana distribution 6 days a week for the last 14 years • Sunday breakfast for 14 years long (Egg and Pav) • Repair and reconstruction of the kitchens, desk & table • Arranging occasional picnics for refreshment and recreation. • Providing gifts for the children from time-to-time.
PLAN OF ACTION 2017-18 WHAT WE WILL PROVIDE AT THE CHILDREN HOMES
Milestones: • OMI has been integrating Education for life project since 2004 to the 7 homes under Children’s Aids Society. • We are the first to start Child Guidance Unit in collaboration with the correction home. • DSIS is one of the correction homes in the state of Maharashtra and our CGU/Mental health project holds a special reference in the report of the Govt. of Maharashtra. • Comptroller and Auditor General team, India has suggested that “The project (CGU & CBEP) should be expanded to all children’s homes in Maharashtra” • Ojus Medical Institute was considered in the review team by the Children Aid Society in identifying gaps & how they can be accomplished. • We started the monthly birthday celebrations and supplement nutrition program at the 7 homes
MILESTONES • We are the first organisation to start educational counselling and group educational sessions at the only correction home in Maharashtra - David Sassoon Industrial School in 2007. • In 2013 OMI expanded its support and has been providing educational counselling and group educational sessions at four homes under Children’s Aids society. • Annually over 750 children receive OMI’s educational counselling and groups educational session. • OMI has been providing the children supplementary nutritional support of egg and banana since 2004. • Our project has repaired and reconstructed kitchens, desk and table at various children homes. • OMI also provides celebrations for children’s birthday with special meal and sports activity
CHILD GUIDANCE & COUNSELING UNIT (CMU) ACTIVITIES: • Individual Counseling sessions • Group Counseling sessions • Family Counseling sessions • Networking Meetings with the staff sessions • Psychiatric cases referred & are treated.

HIV AWARENESS FOR ALL CHILDREN • HIV& AIDS awareness • Children being aware of HIV, AIDS and the difference between them, • Diagnostic process for HIV • Importance of medication during HIV • Prevention of AIDS, other STDs, • Having correct answers to their concerns and not relying on myths and beliefs • Refresher after a gap of minimum a month or two.
DE-ADDICTION PROGRAM • Awareness, Therapy & Counselling • What is addiction? • How easy it is easy to addicted? • Means of addiction? Physical, Mental & Psychological hazards of addiction, Motivation level assessment, Intensity of Addiction? • Treatment modality will be ascertained as per the intensity. • Assessment, Interviewed usage, motivation, • Subsequent follow up thru. counselling to increase the motivation level in children and reduce the usage.
LIFE SKILL EDUCATION • Personality development skills • Emotional skills • Social skills • Career guidance and networking (Cell phone) • Micro-finance and social security – Pradhan Mantri Jan Suraksha Yojna and Accidental and life insurance (Rs.352/- Annual)
Where you can support ? • Full time for Psychologist/ educational counselor • Quarterly medical camp – skin and general medical. • Pradhan Mantri Jan SurakshaYojna for 50 boys annual avg. (Rs17,500) • Cell phones for school leavers – 50 boys annual avg. (Rs. 60,000)) • Medical doctor (General) – 5 times /week (Rs. 120,000 annual) • Special meals every month • Birthday celebrations every month • Sports for children • Art workshops • Any other activities/project you would like for the children
