  5. Immediate Effects • From naval limitations, participating nations were able to save a lot of money • Calmed tensions in the Pacific and preserved peace in the 1920s • Britain and U.S. benefitted from abolition of Anglo – Japanese Alliance

  6. Problems of the Agreement and why it was not effective in the long run!! • There were loopholes; with excess funds, nations constructed smaller, more effective vessels that were not touched in the letter of the agreement • Japan’s fleet was concentrated; it ultimately enabled Rise of Japanese Empire as a naval power leading up to WWII, after Japan ended participation in 1936
