  1. Give Honor To Whom Honor Is Due Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor. (Romans 13:7 NKJV) Inspired From Article by Paul White; Biblical Insights November 2009

  2. Definition of Honor • Honor – primarily “a valuing”; a price paid or received. (W.E. Vines) Used in many different ways in the scriptures. • “To honor someone is to value and respect them; to revere the position they occupy, or the work of service they offer for the good of others.” (Paul White)

  3. Do We Honor God? • But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, (Romans 3:21-23 NKJV) • For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 NKJV) • you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. (1 Corinthians 6:20 RSV)

  4. Does Homosexuality Honor God? • (Romans 1:26-28) For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. Their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural, and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in their own persons the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a base mind and to improper conduct. (RSV) • (1 Corinthians 6:9-10) Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. (NKJV)

  5. Do We Deal Honorably With Our Brethren? • Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. (Romans 12:9,10 ESV) • Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. (Romans 12:17,18 ESV) • The emphasis is on giving careful consideration to others in a respectful way. • How honorable is it to destroy another by spreading rumors, gossip or slander?

  6. Do We Treat Our Shepherds With Honor? • Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching; (1 Timothy 5:17 RSV) • Obey your leaders and submit to them; for they are keeping watch over your souls, as men who will have to give account. Let them do this joyfully, and not sadly, for that would be of no advantage to you. (Hebrews 13:17 RSV)

  7. Do Our Homes Receive Honor? • Likewise you husbands, live considerately with your wives, bestowing honor on the woman as the weaker sex, since you are joint heirs of the grace of life, in order that your prayers may not be hindered. (1 Peter 3:7 RSV) • however, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband. (Ephesians 5:33 RSV) • Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother" (this is the first commandment with a promise), (Ephesians 6:1-2 RSV)

  8. Give Honor To Whom Honor Is Due! God and His Word! Our Brethren! Our Elders! Our Families!
