Creation myths serve as foundational narratives that explain the origins of the universe, humanity, and cultural values. In small groups, we will discuss and agree on a singular interpretation of what defines a creation myth, drawing upon specific examples from various traditions. Each member will bring insights from distinct mythologies—such as the Hindu account of Brahma creating the world, the Genesis story of God creating the earth, and the Zuni Pueblo's emergence from the underworld. By integrating these examples, we will articulate the shared themes and unique attributes that characterize creation myths. ###

Defining a Myth • Write a one sentence description of what Creation Myths does. • In a small group. Agree on one version and be ready to explain why this is the best. • Find specific examples from the myths which do this and as a group write an expository paragraph to describe the essence of a Creation Myth using specific examples. • Provide one example from each story. This means that if you can’t find an example in a story, you may need to expand your definition.
