  1. 2nd Grade News: February 24-28, 2014 Mrs. Haley Mrs. Laramie Mrs. Hayes Mrs. Shirley Mrs. Jessie Mrs. Tara Midterm grades will go home Monday, February 24th. Book Fair begins February 27th! Read Across America Week: March 3rd-7th. Dress up days each day! Family Fiesta Night – March 3rd. Spring Pictures (individual and class) will be March 25th. Report Cards Sent Home March 28th. What Will I Be Learning? A school wide contest is underway to see which class has the BEST attendance each week in February! This means you are at school on time, and stay all day! We want you here and miss you when you are gone. We are keeping up to see which class will get the “Highest Attendance” award and will earn a popcorn party!  • Reading – • I can determine the answers of literary text using who, what, when, where, why, and how. • Math – • I can recognize and draw shapes having specified attributes, such as a given number of angles or a given number of equal faces. I can identify triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and cubes. • Science/Social Studies – • I can identify significant historical symbols. • Spelling – • I can recognize and read irregularly spelled words. • (compound words) • Fluency – I can read with accuracy. (74-84 wcpm) Read Across America Week Monday March 3rd – “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish” -Wear Red for WKU or U of L or Blue for UK. Tuesday March 4th –”Oh, the Places You Will Go” Dress for the Career or profession you hope to pursue. Wednesday – “Wacky Wednesday” Thursday “Buddy Up” and “Hunt” for a good book! Dress as twins/and or wear camo.- Friday “Dreaming” of a good book! Wear your PJ’s
