Key Algebraic Definitions in Mathematics
This unit defines essential algebraic concepts including algebraic expressions, cells, columns, and rows within spreadsheets. It explains how to evaluate expressions and presents formulas that establish general rules for calculations, such as the relationship between width and length (A=w*l). Special cases are also discussed, which allow for personalized application of formulas. Important terms like unit rate and variable illustrate financial computations. Understanding these definitions is crucial for mastering algebra and improving analytical skills.

Unit #3 Definitions By Gus K
Algebraic expression • Algebraic expression- An expression that contains a variable.
Cell • Cell- In a spreadsheet, a box formed where a column and a row intersect
Column • Column- A column is a section of cells lined up vertically.
Row • Row- A row is a section of cells lined up horizontally.
Evaluate • Evaluate- To judge or determine the value of something. • (6*b)* c =6* (b*c) • (a+c)=(5+7)
Formula • Formula- A general rule for finding the Value of something. • A=w*l
General Pattern • A number model for a pattern or rule. • A=w*l
Rate • The amount of charge or payment with calculations to it. • Total=amount*$0.6
Special Case • To follow the formula in your own way. • A15=5w*3l
Square Root • The quantity of a number which is squared. • (+6)*(+6)= 36
Unit Rate • Price per product • 3cokes,each $1 = $1 per coke
Variable • Apt or reliable to change • A=w*15or5or3or7
