Opening Activity • Concept behind Culture • Art, Language, Food, Folklore, Customs, Buildings, Spirituality, etc. • Culture is unique to specific people • Can extend beyond borders • American culture occurs from many different cultures • Break into same # groups and create a word web • “American Culture” in Middle of web • Must use at least 6 ovals in web • Be prepared to share

  5. Intro Tracking Sheets • Introduce tracking sheets for the Unit • Students will complete and turn into me • Periodically evaluate progress throughout unit • Copy Learning goal • Fill out only first row of boxes

  7. Unit 1 Preview • On device please read the Unit Preview • Wait for Video, Ill play for whole Class • Look at pics, access definitions • Answer questions in groups • One ? At a time, Well discuss after each • Be able to give proof • Complete sentences • Discussion

Module 1 • Lets complete Module 1 • Able to work at your own pace • Use pics and definitions to help • Once finished with reading each student will be assigned a tribal group • Using device research online and create a Pic Collage (App for iOS and Android) • Create collage giving me at least 4 pictures and 2 boxes of text • Once finished “Save to phone (gallery)”

Module 1 Continued • Once Pic Collage is completed and saved to phone/device it needs to be uploaded • Visit MrHHistory.weebly.com on your device • Upload Pic Collage to Forum • Create or Sign In with Account • Post image on Forum for credit before next class (48 Hours) • If you do not finish, complete for Homework

  10. 6th Grade • BAV/Anchor Lesson Review • Introduce Learning Goal • Work on BAV’s for Chapter 2 • Select words on pg 28-29 • Use Map Projection QR Codes • Or Sheets, Pg 30-31 • Six Elements PPT and Skit • Longitude/Latitude Quiz

  13. BAVs • Work on BAV’s for our Chapter vocab • Following words should be completed • Hemisphere, Longitude, Latitude, Projection, Scale, Distort, Special-Purpose Map, Cardinal Directions • 8 total words (2 Sheets of paper using Front and Back)

  14. Map Projections • QR Codes • Depends on devices • Will work in groups/stations • Scan and answer each of the 6 QR codes • One at a time • Scan and answer together, Use pages 30 and 31 • Discuss in group and come up with answers • Come together and answer group question

Six Elements • Show Six Elements PPT • Each Group will get a different Element • You have 15-20 mins to come up with and direct/act in a 2/3 minute skit that describes or shows off your groups element. ALL MEMBERS must have some role. • Use pages 32 and 33 for help • Keep info a SECRET • Do not let other groups hear what Element you have. They must guess at the end.

  16. Longitude/Latitude Location Quiz • Using Geography Alive Books • Read pages 16 and 17 • Complete 1st 4 Questions. Use complete sentences • Copy on own sheet of paper • Quick Quiz • Using page 17 identify on same sheet the location of these coordinates • Copy Coordinates, Answer Question
