  2. Wavelength and Frequency The wavelength of infrared rays range from 7 millimeters to 750 nanometers The frequency ranges from 4 X 10 14 Hertz to 1 X 10 13 Hertz

  3. Infrared rays are invisible to the human eye, unless reflected off an object.

  4. The Electromagnetic Spectrum Infrared rays fit between microwaves and visible light.

  5. Sir William Herschel Discovered Infrared Rays Discovered in 1800, the German astronomer split light using a prism (an object that can split white light into a spectrum/rainbow) and used a thermometer to find out whether heat was being emitted without light. Herschel concluded that there must be invisible heat rays, and his hypothesis was correct.

Also shown to help humans by; • Decreasing joint stiffness • Relieving muscle spasms • Increasing blood flow • Pain Relief • Helps soft tissue injury • Increases flexibility

  11. Facts About Infrared Rays Infrared rays are also used to treat acne and reduce blood pressure. There is a story of a man who was being treated with infrared radiation and his pneumonia was cured. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome also responds to infrared radiation treatment.
