  3. OBJECTIVE • Research the national park you are interested in and include two endangered/threatened species (one animal and one plant) and one exotic species found in your park.

Desert Biome Climatograph Contents Page 1 – Name and picture of park, your name, class title, class period, due date Page 2 & 3 – location of park • Established-  When it became a park • Map & size of park • Natural history information  • Challenges or problems the park is facing/experiencing • Potential solutions or specific ways to meet/solve the challenges identified  • Food Chain-1 Representative food chain (involving at least three trophic levels) • Natural Resources-A discussion of noteworthy natural resources within park boundaries including pictures • Landscape/seascape features • Aquatic features (if present) • Natural Resources – cont. • Geology of the park • Biotic components: flora and fauna • Major Biome the park belongs to including a climatograph •       (See above)

Contents Page 4 & 5 – Endangered/threatened species found in the National Park – YOU MUST FIND ONE OF EACH • A picture or detailed sketch of each species • Species common name • Species scientific name in correct format (Genus species) • Reason(s) for the listed status of each species • Region or area within park where species is endangered/threatened • For animal –  • Information on feeding behavior/diet  • Species behaviors: • Reproduction habits • Number of offspring  • Body size • Habitat requirements • For plant –  • Sun, soil and water requirements • Size and shape dimensions of adult plant • Seed dispersal method(s) • Length of flowering/blooming • What year was each species listed? • What organisms are taxonomically related to each species? • What steps or measures have been taken to preserve each species? aside from being listed • Has the species E/T status changed since initial listing? Contents Page 6 – Exotic/Invasive species found in the National Park • A picture or detailed sketch of species • Species common name • Species scientific name in correct format (Genus species) • Location/place where species is NATIVE • Species Introduction-A description/explanation of how the species was introduced to the park • Ecological Impact-Specific ecological impacts of the introduced species • Benefits-Describe any benefits provided by the introduced species • Species Control-Descriptions/explanations of measures taken to control this species A discussion of how/why this species is potentially (or already is) detrimental to ecosystems in the park which is not native to this species • Species Role-What is its role in its native habitat?
