  1. Stance Basics WIDE RECEIVER FUNDAMENTALS I. STANCE • Inside foot up (85% of your weight) • Inside leg – Knee should be bent and over the foot • Outside leg- Straight (do not lock) • Outside foot – Heel on ground • Spacing – Feet should be shoulder width • Torso – Slight lean forward (shoulders over knees) • Elbows – Tight and ready to hammer back • Hands – Up and in front to insure proper hammer angle • Head – Your choice. We must be able to get pre-snap coverage call and see ball being snapped

  2. Start & Release II. START and RELEASE • Push through the knee and foot of inside leg. (Your hips will drop slightly to help with power) • Hammer your elbow back. (Your arm should remain in a 90-degree angle) • Constantly negotiate what release will help provide the best leverage for blocking or create the best separation for route execution. • We will utilize 3 releases 1. Inside Release - Inside release in order to gain a head-up position versus a defender who plays an inside technique (Cover 3 or 1) 2. Outside Release – Outside release in order to gain a head-up position on a defender who plays an outside technique (Cover 2) 3. Speed Release – Release directly at a head-up defender who is playing soft (Cover 3)

  3. Blocking BLOCKING • Blocking is 90% effort and 10% technique. (You will not see the field if you can’t block) • Sell the void when possible • Avoid crossing one foot over another • Sit in the chair (squat stance) during stalk block • Low man wins • Fit your hands inside defender’s frame • Keep elbows right • You must keep you feet under you and moving (do not lunge)

  4. FINAL - “MUSTS” MUSTS! • Understand concept of every play so you know where and why you are blocking the defender • Always run routes 100% regardless if you are playside or backside • If the ball touches your hand, it must be caught • Compete for every ball • Catch and tuck ball away • Always be the aggressor!

  5. Routes and Terms RECEIVER TERMS ROUTES HITCH = 6 YARDS VERTICAL BACK TO 5 VOID = VERTICALLY UP THE FIELD, BEST RELEASE STOP = ONE YARD STOP CORNER = 6 YARDS VERTICALLY, CUT OUTSIDE ON A 45' ANGLE FOR 15 TO 18 YARDS FADE = VERTICALLY UP THE FIELD, STAYING 5 YARDS FROM SIDELINE SLANT = 6 YARDS VERTICALLY, CUT 45' INSIDE QUICK SLANT= INSIDE RELEASE AND ATTACK INSIDE SHOULDER OF DEFENDER ARROW = STRAIGHT TO THE FLAT GAINING GROUND TO 4 YARDS, LOOK OVER INSIDE SHOULDER QUICK OUT= 3 STEPS VERTICALLY, THEN BEND OUT FLAT TO THE SIDELINE HITCH N GO= RUN HITCH, THEN TURN IT UP FIELD VERTICALLY SKINNY POST= VERTICALLY ATTACK UP FIELD FOR 12 YARDS, THEN SLIGHT MOVE INSIDE TO NEAR POST BROKEN ARROW= VERTICALLY ATTACK FOR 12 YARDS, TO A POST MOVE FOR TWO YARDS, TO ACROSS THE FIELD LOOKING FOR OPEN AREA STEM = INSIDE RELEASE TO REAR HASH AND ATTACK VERTICALLY UP THE FIELD WHEEL = OUTSIDE RELEASE LOOKING TO USE THE OUTSIDE RECEIVER AS A PICK THEN INTO A FADE DIG = ATTACK VERTICALLY FOR 14, PLANT OUTSIDE FOOT AND PUSH BACK TOWARDS QB TO 12 CURL = ATTACK VERTICALLY FOR 12 YARDS AND PLANT OUTSIDE FOOT AND PUSH BACK TOWARDS QB TO 10 POST CORNER= VERTICALLY ATTACK FOR 10 YARDS, TO A POST MOVE FOR TWO YARDS, THEN BREAK 45' TO CORNER SHALLOW DRAG= INSIDE RELEASE AND RUN ACROSS THE FIELD AT 3 YARDS DEPTH, READ COVERAGE STEM/CURL= RUN STEM, THEN BREAK IT OFF AT 12 YARDS PLANTING OUTSIDE FOOT AND PUSHING BACK TO THE QB POST = 12 YARDS VERTICAL RELEASE SLIGHT CUT TO NEAR POST.

  6. Receiver Formation & Plays

  7. THE HUDDLE The center calls the huddle before every play We have 3 different types of the huddles. Team Huddle = All 11 offensive players meet to get the play, 7-8 yards from LOS QB T G C G T X S SB Y Z Muddle Huddle = The Lineman, &, SB meet the QB to get the call, 3-4 yards from LOS Z X T G C G T Y S QB SB No Huddle = All Players hustle to their position and listen for the QB’s Call C X T G G T Z S Y QB SB

  8. POSITIONS SYMBOLS T = Tackle G = Guard C = Center X & Z = Outside Receivers S & Y = Inside Receivers QB = Quarterback SB = Super Back - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - X T G C G T Z S Y SB QB

  9. O-LINE – Center must line up first, Guards then should align their toes to Centers heels, tackles align toe to toe with the Guards. Outside foot back for OG,s & OT’s. - Their should be 2 ft splits between each lineman and Guards & Tackles are in 2pt stance. WR’S - X & Z align on the LOS, 6 To 10 yds from the sideline. - S & Y align front leg on the heel of the Z or X, off LOS, split the distance between OT & Z or X - if TE is in Formation 2.5 to 3ft splits for TE SB - Aligns w/ his heels 5yds from LOS, Splitting - Inside hip of OT QB - Aligns with toes 5yds behind the center, Hands up in Pray position ALIGNMENTS - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - LOS = Line of Scrimmage C X T G G T Z S Y 5yds SB QB

  10. Our BASE FORMATION – is assumed unless other formation is called or Signaled RIFLE - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - C X T G G T Z S Y SB QB

  11. Receivers on each side switch positions in Rifle. RIFLE SWITCH - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - C S T G G T Y X Z SB QB

  12. TRIPS The TRIPS formation is when we Align 3 Rec’s to one side of the formation The Call (Trips Right) determines which side of the formation we overload! The Y and S make the adjustments. The I/S Rec to the call side widens to the 2nd Position, closer to the O/S Rec. The B/S Rec moves to the call side I/S Rec position or # 3, Closer to the OT. The O/S Rec is the Z or X and is Called # 1 EXAMPLE: Pistol Left Y goes in motion to CALL - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - X T G C G T Z S Y #1 #3 #2 SB QB

  13. PISTOL Pistol is when we MOTION to Trips The Call (Pistol Left) determines which side of the formation we will motion too! The Y and S make the adjustments. The I/S Rec to the Call Side (left) adjusts his alignment closer to the OT or # 3 position. The backside I/S Rec (away from the call) is the MOTION Rec and becomes # 2. Motion begins on QB’s 1st sound. EXAMPLE: Pistol Left Y goes in motion to CALL - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - X T G C G T Z S Y #1 #3 #2 SB QB
