  2. What is it and What does it look like ? • A desert makes up one-third of earths land • These arid regions are called deserts because they are dry. They may be hot, they may be cold. • It is dry dew to the little rain the desert gets • Dry

  3. How are deserts formed? • Evaporation lifts pure water up from the sea while the salt remains in the sea. Onshore winds from the oceans carry air that is rich in moisture over the land. Air rises and cools under the influence of upcurrents created by the warmer land surface.

  4. The Sahara • the world's largest hot desert and second largest desert, after Antarctica.[1] At over 9,400,000 square kilometers (3,600,000 sq. mi), it covers most of Northern Africa, making it almost as large as China or the United States.

  5. Plants of The Sahara Desert • The Saharan cactus

  6. conclusion • Deserts cover about one fifth of the Earth's land surface. Most Hot and Dry Deserts are near the Tropic of Cancer or the Tropic of Capricorn. Cold Deserts are near the Arctic part of the world. Hot and Dry Deserts temperature ranges from 20 to 25° C. The extreme maximum temperature for Hot Desert ranges from 43.5 to 49° C. Deserts temperature in winter ranges from -2 to 4° C and in the summer 21 to 26° C a year.
