ECSS – CCSDS Liaison • ECSS and CCSDS have signed a MoU with the following objectives: • Early exchange of New Work Items in order to avoid duplication of effort • Cross participation between ECSS and CCSDS to reviews of ECSS standards and CCSDS recommendations, in order to maximize technical expertise available for those reviews and eventually facilitate adoption by the other party ; • Periodic exchange of planning for standards and recommendations reviews, in order to enable cross participation in both organizations. • To implement this MoU and achieve those goals, a coordination process has to be put in place. • Two Points of Contact (PoC) have been designated for this MoU on both sides : • G.Moury for ECSS • N.Peccia for CCSDS,

ECSS – CCSDS Liaison • Draft procedure for CCSDS – ECSS liaison co-ordination produced • But it needs to be compared against the existing CCSDS liaison procedures • To be considered as internal co-ordination between the POCs • First telecon between PoCs (GM and NP), ECSS Secretariat and CCSDS Secretariat (part time) held on 25th April • Internal Procedure reviewed • Some clarifications needed on both sides • ECSS editorial rules discussed without CCSDS Secretariat • Discussed already during CESG Chair presentation • CCSDS POC clarifies that • any activity on top of normal CCSDS processes already in place for RIDs, Liaisons, etc. will be done by the CCSDS POC (NP)

Identification of ECSS standards of potential interest to CCSDS • E-70-41 (Packet Utilization Standard - PUS) • A NWI Proposal is going to be issued in ECSS for updating the PUS standard. • One option is to propose that this new version of the PUS is being developed within a CCSDS WG (MOIMS area ?). The objective would be to update PUS as a CCSDS/ISO standard. • Other ECSS standards to be identified
