TSI Assessment Timeline • New TSI Assessment Timeline • Field Testing with current ACCUPLACER Users (fall 2012) • Standard Setting (January-February 2013) • THECB Approval (March-April 2013) • IHE Training (May-July) • New TSI Assessment Implementation Date • Implementation Date : IHEs first regular class day of AY 2013-2014 • Students MUST meet new TSI assessment standards • No “grandfather” clause

TSI Statute/Rule Changes • TSI Rule Changes (effective fall 2013) • One TSI Assessment with one standard • IHEs can no longer set more stringent standards • Exemptions (no major changes expected, except EOC) • IHEs cannot raise exemption scores • IHEs cannot compel exempt students to take DE as prerequisite for entry-level coursework

Implications • High Schools: Eligibility for dual credit coursework fall 2013 • IHEs: Approaches to developmental education • To be discussed at spring Leadership Alliance meeting • Joint letter to be prepared by TEA and THECB • Projected date: release of EOC standards • Questions: • Suzanne.Morales-Vale@thecb.state.tx.us
