  1. Creating an organizational culture that embraces health and wellness.

  2. WSAC Mission: We advance educational opportunities and attainment in Washington. In pursuit of our mission, the Washington Student Achievement Council: • Leads statewide strategic planning to improve educational coordination and transitions. • Supports Washingtonians through the administration of financial aid, a college savings plan, and support services. • Advocates for the economic, social, and civic benefits of postsecondary education.

  5. Meet the WSAC Wellness Committee

WSAC Wellness Purpose Mission • To create an organizational culture that: • Supports employee self-change • Provides a health and wellness oriented environment • Presents opportunities, activities, resources, and information to encourage healthy behaviors in employees Vision • A healthy, happy staff community that is engaged and productive

Values • Maintaining employee privacy • Encouraging positive behaviors • Fostering an open communication culture (feedback, ideas, etc.) • Offering agency wellness opportunities Goals • Identify and mitigate health risk factors that are prevalent among WSAC staff • Increase productivity and team member engagement

  8. Team Work Well Initiatives: WSAC Wellness is committed to following the standards set by Team Work Well. We support and promote policies and activities in these areas: • Increasing physical activity • Improving healthy eating and food selection • Living tobacco-free • Utilizing preventive services effectively

  9. 2014 Successes • Active wellness committee • One of five agencies to receive the Zo8 Award • Sustainable wellness in agency • Weekly flyer program: Preventative screenings, healthy eating, smoking cessation, physical activity and numerous other topics • Healthy options for vending machines • WSAC wellness survey completed and results analyzed • WSAC wellness policy updated
