F.I.T. TECH F.I.T. Tech figures: • 130 employees and 170 students participated = 300 • 469,053 minutes of activity recorded (average of 195 min/week/participant) • *17,294 servings of fruit/vegetables • *445 pounds lost *Not required to be recorded
F.I.T. TECH F.I.T. Tech post-activity evaluation results: • 11% went from non-exerciser to exercising 1-2 times per week; 25% from non-exerciser to 3+ times per week • 47% were regular exercisers who increased their sessions to 3 or 4+ times per week • 92% had met their individual goal
F.I.T. TECH More F.I.T. Tech post-activity evaluation results: • 92% were more likely to continue physical activity • 84% were more likely to continue healthy food selection • 70% can utilize positive stress relievers such as physical activity; mind/body activity. • 80% are feeling better physically
F.I.T. TECH The benefits of including students: • TTU students (future employees) are exposed to an employee wellness program • Each group gained insight into issues that may affect another group’s members • Hands-on experience for student assistants in the planning, development and delivery of an employee wellness program.
F.I.T. TECH What can you take from F.I.T Tech? • This program could be easily modified • 3 tiered structure encourages participation • Captains reports that 6 person teams were manageable • Recording can be done manually or a simple spreadsheet can add up points
F.I.T. TECH Looking to the future • Continue F.I.T. Tech in the Spring 2010 • Collaborate with more departments and divisions who are responsible for health and wellness of faculty, staff and students • Human Resources • Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Texas • Hospitality Services • HESS and Nutrition Department students
