What is AP Biology? • An intro course into college-level biology that will focus on evolution, cellular processes, genetics, information transfer, ecology and interactions using lecture and self-directed labs • Depending on your score on the AP exam, you may receive college credit for Biology 1 & 2

  3. What is expected of you? • You must be ready to be your own learning advocate! What does that mean? • Reading the assigned chapters and doing the practice questions in the book ahead of class time • Coming to class prepared (materials, knowledge, and questions) • Questioning, designing, performing and analyzing data from your own guided experiments • Spending anywhere from ½-1 hour of studying a night to kick butt on the AP exam at the end of the year!

  4. Summer Assignment • RIGHT NOW: Follow PPMHAPBio on Twitter! • Read “Jurassic Park” by Michael Crichton and check the website for your short response essay assignment • Read Chapter 1-3 and do any concept checks / self-quiz questions as a review of general biology, general chemistry, and water properties. Be ready for a quiz the first week of school!
