We have the ability to have some things different than other district schools We have made changes to our cafeteria food that other district schools do not have We have made changes to the uniform policy that other schools do not have We have specialty classes like guitar, business and senior seminar

We want you to think about what you want your Enterprise school to be about, and write something that you believe in!

7. Disruption of Instruction 1st Offense: Student/Teacher conference, start conference form 2nd Offense: Complete initial conference form, make Parent Contact, and turn in to administrator 3rd Offense: Team Conference with student, parent, teachers, and administrators. Intervention Referral to appropriate administrator.

8. Profanity Use Student/Teacher conference Parent Conference/Team Conference intervention Three days in-school intervention with parent conference Three/five days suspension, possible long-term suspension/hearing and alternative placement for severe offenses.

9. Sexual Misconduct 1st Offense: Counseling with student, parent, administrator, police for possible solutions, possible suspension depending on extent of harassment 2nd Offense: Three to ten days suspension with parent, administrator, police and counselor present for conference Serious offenses may result in a long-term suspension.

10. Fighting 1st Offense: Five days suspension and ticket from police officer 2nd Offense: Long-term suspension, taken to CIC, parent conference, and alternative placement

11. Bullying Intervention Referral to administrator and parent contact Student/Parent Conference Five days suspension/ticket from police officer Suspension and Long-term hearing scheduled. Note: Bullying is a repeated long-term harassment—not an isolated incident

12. CELL PHONES Signed contract for all students who want to bring a phone to school. Phones allowed during breakfast and lunch. All phones, ear plugs, electronic devices, and/or any other wireless telecommunication device MUST be turned OFF when students enter halls and ALL other areas in building.

13. Cell phone/communication device offenses: • Phones in the hall/class: 1st Phone is confiscated and picked up by student at the end of the day from Mr. Howard. • Phones in the hall/class: 2nd Phone is confiscated and picked up by parent at the end of the day from Mr. Howard. • Phones that are confiscated are turned in to administrator, parent notified, possible lose of privileges. Please see student contract/COC

14. John Marshall Dress Code Policy2013-14 • Students will wear the following polo or collared shirt with the following colors: MS (Red) HS (Navy Blue), White for both • Students may not expose low chest or midriff • Students can wear the following color slacks, capri’s, skirts, shorts, or skorts (two inches above the knees) khaki or black only, no jeans except on Spirit days or free dress (still according to district dress code). No jeans, jeggings, leggings • ALL pants will be worn on the waistline properly (absolutely no sagging) or with a belt • Any type of athletic shoe is acceptable along with boot and closed-toe dress shoes. NO FLIP FLOPS, HOUSE SHOES OR LOOKALIKES. • If a student would like to wear a light jacket to class, it must be solid colored. Uniform shirt must be underneath • All heavy winter jackets must be put in your lockers 

15. UNIFORM ADDITIONS THIS YEAR All JM T-shirts are acceptable; all athletic, club, event and Finance Academy shirts are acceptable for the uniform. If you wear a JM hoodie, you must have a uniform shirt underneath.

17. SCANNING All students are required to go through the scanner at the gym door until 7:25 a.m. Students will remove outerwear with proper attire for scanning purposes Students are allowed to enter the front door scanners after 7:25 a.m… NO EXCEPTIONS! *After Scanning proceed to cafeteria or commons areas to await dismissal to classrooms

18. LUNCH/BOUNDARIES Please clean up after yourself; no food leaves the cafeteria. Stay seated until instructed to empty tray/trash. Absolutely NO wandering in cafeteria/area. No horse playing/inappropriate behavior Do not leave the cafeteria/library. In case of emergency, get the attention of the administrator on duty for further instructions.

19. Attendance Policy Eleven (11) unexcused absences during the semester may result in a No Credit (NC)--you will have to retake the course. Students may be ticketed for skipping class, even if you are in the building. For excused absences, students will have up to 5 days (per district policy.) to make-up missing assignments.  After the 5 day period, the student will receive a permanent zero in the grade book if work has not been completed. For unexcused absences, a student will have 3 days to turn in late work, with a 15% penalty each day toward the grade of that assignment.

20. Tardy Policy You are tardy after the tardy bell rings. If you are 5 or more minutes late, that becomes an absence and your parent will be notified. 1st tardy =Warning 2nd tardy=Parent contact, Intervention form 3rd tardy=ISI (in-school intervention) Intervention Referrals go to Administrator for processing.

21. Truancy A student is considered truant when absent from the classroom without the knowledge of either the school or parent. If a student is absent from school four or more days or parts of days within a four week period without a valid excuse for eleven (11) or more days during a semester, the attendance officer will inform the parents that they are not in compliance with the law and will notify the district attorney for Oklahoma County. Ticket may be issued. Parents can be fined for each day their child is truant from school.

22. Skipping Class 1st Offense: Intervention Referral to administrator, ISI assigned, and parent contacted 2nd Offense: Three days in-school suspension (ISI), parent conference 3rd Offense: Five days in-school suspension (ISI), parent conference *Student and Parent may be fined by Court for Truancy

23. Many rewards for being on Time to Class Students who are on time to class and do not receive ISI for the first 9-weeks, will go to the Fall Ball for free on the Friday before Fall Break, plus more rewards to be announced!! Students who have had discipline/tardy intervention referrals will not be eligible to attend.

24. School Activities A maximum of 10 days of activity absences, per semester from any one class are permitted during a school year.

25. Buses Riding a bus is not a right and can be taken away if behavior is not appropriate. Be aware that buses are now outfitted with video cameras.

26. Closed Campus All students are required to remain on campus throughout the entire school day. Only a parent/guardian can check you out.

27. Tobacco/Drug Free School DON’T POSSESS DON’T USE DON’T BE UNDER THE INFLUENCE DON’T DISTRIBUTE

28. Clubs/Sports Afterschool buses with a pass from coach or sponsor only: Wednesdays at 4:30 pm GET INVOLVED!!!

29. Parent Visitation Parents are welcome in our school, however, they must report to the main office and request to have their child sent to the main office. Appointments must be made to speak with teachers during the school day.

30. Outside Food We have made changes to improve our cafeteria food, and we will continue to do so. You can bring breakfast items with you and a sack lunch, if you choose. After the school day has started no outside food is allowed. Do not call people to bring you outside food, as it will not be allowed into the building.

31. End of Instruction(EOI) ALL STUDENTS MUST PASS 4 OUT OF 7 EOI EXAMS TO MEET GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS.

32. JOHN MARSHALL MID-HIGH ENTERPRISE SCHOOL CHALLENGE 25 BOOK CAMPAIGN All John Marshall students, grades 7-12, must read 30 minutes nightly.

John Marshall’s New Programs to support student success in 2013-14 Finance Academy for 9-10th grade students TFCU in-school branch available for work-based learning for 11th and 12th graders ACT Prep and EOI Prep on Study Island Concurrent enrollment classes 1st & 2nd semester After-school tutoring on Wednesdays with bus Saturday tutoring from 9 a.m.-12 noon
