  5. 19th Review Meeting of SSA - Kolkata • Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalay • Janpriya Nagar, Janpriya Vidyalay (H.S.) • Positive findings : • Adequate infra structural facilities - building, compound wall, drinking water facilities; Toilets available. • Girls appeared to be motivated, fearless ; • Learning level of the girls were found satisfactory; • Community Mobilization is found to be satisfactory. • A sum of Rs.1.50 lakh stated to have been received as community contribution for building construction.   7. 19th Review Meeting of SSA - Kolkata General Operation : • Teaching Learning Materials not available or displayed; • Enrollment Register not properly maintained • Health Card of the girls enrolled were not properly maintained. Rather, on a printed card, name and age of the girls were mentioned without any findings of the health check up. • Practice of Regular Health Check up not followed; • No photographs of the girls or the identity card were available; Field Visit Report – Team - 1

  8. 19th Review Meeting of SSA - Kolkata • Operation of Bank Account, • No separate Bank Account of KGBV • Amount transferred from DPO to School from where amount is withdrawn and spent in for KGBV; • No Cash Book is maintained to record the cash transaction at KGBV; • Huge amount is withdrawn and spent. On 25th September’2008 Rs. 2.50 lakh was withdrawn in cash; • No account of expenditure incurred is recorded before next withdrawal; • No Cheque Issue Register is maintained Field Visit Report – Team - 1

  9. 19th Review Meeting of SSA - Kolkata • Stock Register in respect of consumable items or the fixed assets acquired is not maintained; • No physical Verification of Stock has been conducted either by the Centre / DPO or the Auditors • No visitors register is maintained; • No schedule of timing for the appointment of girls with their parents is scheduled or displayed ; • Payment vouchers are nor passed and authorised for payment • Though Accountant is appointed but without any work; Field Visit Report – Team - 1

  10. 19th Review Meeting of SSA - Kolkata • Books of account not available; • 164 students enrolled, however only two class rooms available • Even the rooms available are used for non teaching purposes; • It has been found that students were sitting in varandah and cooking wooden sticks were stored in the room.   11. 19th Review Meeting of SSA - Kolkata • Adivasi Prathmik Vidyalay, Ghattalpada : • Toilet / Drinking water facilities not available; • No Compound wall constructed • Out of four teacher positioned in the school, only one teacher present; • In whole the school is running under a very poor condition Field Visit Report – Team - 1

  12. 19th Review Meeting of SSA - Kolkata General observation : • Lack of monitoring by District Project office (DPO) • No training / capacity building exercise from district level • Non availability of even Bench / Desks for the students; • Free Text Book distribution – 100 % students not covered; • No record of Text books received & distributed maintained Field Visit Report – Team - 1 Date of Visit : 12th February 2008
