  4. Things the counseling department can do for your student: Basically: We work with students to enable them to be their best and prepare for the next stage in life.

  7. The Trimester Schedule .50 x 5 = 2.5 2.5 Per Term Equals 7.5 Credits a year Freshman need to be fully scheduled all year.

  8. IHS Credits Calculated a little differently .33 Credits per IHS course. Each trimester they will earn 1 credit from IHS for total of 3 at the end of the year This is also true for zero period courses because they don’t meet everyday. .33 per term equals 1 cr. per year

  9. -October 15th (Test Day): ½ Day of Freshman Activities-During 1stTrimester: Classic South students do Freshman Project with the Career Center to createNaviance & CIS Accounts-During 2ndTrimester: Complete CIS Activities -March/April: Freshman Classroom Visits by Counselors -In the Spring: IHS Students complete Freshman Project Freshman Comprehensive Career & Counseling Activities

  10. Tips For Success Attendance -Excuse: Call it in -Less than 3 x s a term -Pre-arrange absences -Request HW if needed. -Make sure we have updated contact info. Know the Resources -Counseling Center -Career Center -CIS & Naviance -Homework Club, Academics Unlimited and Freshman Advisory Communicate -Check Parent Vue or teacher websites -eNEWs -Contact teachers & counselor -Review school reports Get Involved -Open House -Parent Council -Beyond South Nights

  11. Academic Supports • Freshman Advisory: structured study hall with peer tutors and mentoring (9th Graders only). Credit will be given. • Academics Unlimited: A structured study hall with tutor support (All grades). Credit will be given. • Homework Club: Drop in as needed. After school in Room 6. • Educational Access Times: Wednesday 3:05- 3:30 All Teachers Check the individual teacher forTuesday & Thursday before School times. ✪ Also, talk to your counselor if you need other ideas for academic support.

  12. Parent & Student VUE ` If you do not have your initial activation code you can contact our registrar, Elsa Andrew at andrew_e@4j.lane.edu Students can get assistance and have their passwords reset in the library.

  13. Student/Parent VUE Features Student Schedule, Teacher E-mails, Class websites, Midterm and Final Grades, Class Assignment Calendar There’s also an APP that you can utilize.
