  3. Three Questions “Do I really belong among the people of God since I am so _______________?” “How am I supposed to do life so intimately with all these different people?” “How do I continue Jesus’ mission to love?” In this spiritual war, ground is won & lost in the areas of our thinking & our heart allegiances…

  4. Three Questions “Do I really belong among the people of God since I am so _______________?” “How am I supposed to do life so intimately with all these different people?” “How do I continue Jesus’ mission to love?” G.K. Chesterton said, “The greatest argument against the truth of Christianity is the lives of Christians.”

  5. What is hypocrisy? Hypocrisy is NOT struggling with sin… Hypocrisy IS pretending to be something externally that you are not internally! Hypocrisy IS enslaving, isolating, & a killer of genuine devotion to God!

  6. What is hypocrisy? “They posed as spiritual giants, when they were actually struggling with pride and materialism. If they had come in to the church and gotten up and confessed their struggle with sin (even after they had done this swindle), then they would have been honest with the Holy Spirit (whose mission in the world is to convict of sin, John 16:8). The real sin of hypocrisy is a refusal to live in honest repentance. So in the church today, there is no sin that completely breaks fellowship, ruins the church's witness, and destroys your relationship with God — except the refusal to repent!” -Tim Keller Hypocrisy is NOT struggling with sin… Hypocrisy IS pretending to be something externally that you are not internally! Hypocrisy IS enslaving, isolating, & a killer of genuine devotion to God!

  11. Luke 12:1-7 “The Pharisees appear to be faithful interpreters of God’s will, but their inner corruption and false piety contaminate all they do and spread a contagion to all who follow them. Their interpretations are false. Disciples must dissociate themselves completely from their unhealthy teaching. Failing to heed this warning will be injurious to their spiritual health.” -Garland’s commentary on Luke In these circumstances, a crowd of many thousands came together, so that they were trampling on one another. He began to say to His disciples first: “Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

Yes, I say to you, this is the One to fear! 6 Aren’t five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten in God’s sight. 7 Indeed, the hairs of your head are all counted. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows!

  30. Yes, I say to you, this is the One to fear! 6 Aren’t five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten in God’s sight. 7 Indeed, the hairs of your head are all counted. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows! 2 Cor. 5:21 -- God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

  31. Luke 12:1-7 Colossians 1:21-23-- 21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. 22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation-- 23 if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel 4 “And I say to you, My friends, don’t fear those who kill the body, and after that can do nothing more.5 But I will show you the One to fear: Fear Him who has authority to throw people into hell after death. Yes, I say to you, this is the One to fear! 6 Aren’t five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten in God’s sight. 7 Indeed, the hairs of your head are all counted. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows!

  32. Luke 12:1-7 Hebrews 4:14-16 -- 14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. 4 “And I say to you, My friends, don’t fear those who kill the body, and after that can do nothing more.5 But I will show you the One to fear: Fear Him who has authority to throw people into hell after death. Yes, I say to you, this is the One to fear! 6 Aren’t five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten in God’s sight. 7 Indeed, the hairs of your head are all counted. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows!

  33. Luke 12:1-7 4 “And I say to you, My friends, don’t fear those who kill the body, and after that can do nothing more.5 But I will show you the One to fear: Fear Him who has authority to throw people into hell after death. Yes, I say to you, this is the One to fear! 6 Aren’t five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten in God’s sight. 7 Indeed, the hairs of your head are all counted. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows! James 5:16 -- confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
