What is a kingdom? • “a state or people ruled over by a king or queen” • “a realm or area of activity in which a particular way dominates” The identity & nature of the king sets the course for what way will dominate the kingdom.

1 Samuel 8:1-9 When Samuel grew old, he appointed his sons as judges over Israel. 2 His firstborn son’s name was Joel and his second was Abijah. Kingdom Clash Which kingdom do you belong to?
On the one hand… Luke 9:18-20 -- 18 While He was praying in private and His disciples were with Him, He asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?” 19 They answered, “John the Baptist; others, Elijah; still others, that one of the ancient prophets has come back.” 20 “But you,” He asked them, “who do you say that I am?” Peter answered, “God’s Messiah!”
On the one hand… Romans 10:9-10 -- 9 If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.
On the one hand… Ephesians 2:8-9 -- 8 For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift— 9 not from works, so that no one can boast.

On the other hand… Luke 14:28-33 -- 28 “For which of you, wanting to build a tower, doesn’t first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it? 29 Otherwise, after he has laid the foundation and cannot finish it, all the onlookers will begin to make fun of him, 30 saying, ‘This man started to build and wasn’t able to finish.’ 31 “Or what king, going to war against another king, will not first sit down and decide if he is able with 10,000 to oppose the one who comes against him with 20,000? 32 If not, while the other is still far off, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace. 33 In the same way, therefore, every one of you who does not say good-bye to all his possessions cannot be My disciple.

A hidden reality… Ephesians 2:10 -- For we are His creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time so that we should walk in them.
