  1. Draft Declaration2nd International Islamic Women Police Conference

We the participants of the 2nd International Islamic Women Police Conference organized by the Ministry of Interior, Government of Pakistan at Islamabad, Pakistan on 21 – 24 November 2011, hereby adopt the following Declaration on this day of November 24th, 2011: Recognizing the need for a secure and non violent society: • Violence against women must be stopped • Equal rights for both men and women must be ensured • Patriarchal mindset of the society should change • Human rights are valued Which demands integration of women in mainstream policing with enhanced role and better positioning

Therefore, we pledge 1) To raise awareness and understanding of issues affecting women within the police service and law enforcement; 2) To facilitate and contribute towards discussion on issues of concern to both male and female police officers; 3) To provide, wherever possible, the perspective of women in policing;

  4. Cont… 4)     To work towards equal representation of men and women within every layer of the police organizations in the Islamic states; 5)     To exchange best practices within the police and/or law enforcement organizations especially related to gender reforms; 6)     To play a role in the continuous professional development of all women police;

  5. Cont 7)  To encourage international research and training in order to assist both women and men police officers in the Muslim world; 8)  To promote cooperation in the sphere of policing and law enforcement between Muslim countries for a better understanding of issues and their resolution vis a vis the Muslim communities; 9) To establish cooperation with related organizations worldwide to promote gender responsive policing practices.
