  2. Republic of Polandisin Central Europe, situated on theBalticSea and borderswith7 country: Germany, the Czech Republic ,Slovakia, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuaniaand Russia. Thearea of Poland isabout 313 km2, makingitthe 9th largestinEurope. We havea population of over 38.5 millionpeople, whichmakesusthesixth most populousmemberof theEuropean Union.

  3. Warsowisthelargestcity and hasbeenthe capital sincetheXVIIthcentury.

  4. Our national anthem isthesong called „Mazurek Dąbrowskiego”. We have no king orqueen. Thehead of state isthepresident Thesearepresident – Bronisław Komorowski and prime Minister Donald Tusk

  5. Poland is a member of theEuropean Union, NATO, the United Nations.

  7. TheKingdom of Poland was formedin 1025, and in 1569 took place The Union of Lublin. Fromthis time on Poland and Lithuaniawereknown as The Republik of BothNations, whichstoped to existin 1795 as Poland werepartitionedamongPrussia, Russia and Austria.

  8. Poland didn’tforgetabouthomeland. Ittookeverychance to freethemselves as January Uprising, NovemberUprising and with Napoleon Bonaparte. Poland appears back on themaps of Europe in 1918 after 123 years.

  9. In September 1939 World War II started withGermany and the Soviet Union invasion of our country . Over six million Polish citizens died in the war. After the Secend World War ended, communism came to our country.

  10. In 1989 „The Round Table” gathers Polish communism leaders and of „Solidarity” was the end of communism in Poland and the beginning of the fall of the communism in the rest of Europe.

  11. Geography- the most interesting regions

  12. Lowlandisthe biggestpart of Poland. Uplands and highlands are located in the more mountainous south. The Vistula, Odra, Warta and Bug are Poland's main rivers. The rivers flow from south to north.

  13. Pomerania region along theseacoast. The landscape is dominated by lakes, rivers, bays, deltas, dunes and seaside cliffs running along wide and sandy beaches. An interesting region is the Żuławy area, where depressions is 1,8 m below sea level.

  14. Lakeland region famous for hundreds of lakes, bays, meadows and hillocks. There are over 9,300 lakes in Poland. The largest and the most popular is the Masurian Lake District in the north east. This area is also famous for primeval forests which are home to old trees, rare plants and wild animals.

  15. Sudeten Mountains with their highest range Krakonosze and the highest peak Sniezka (1602 m). There is lower range in this area such as Góry Stołowe famous for amazing rock forms that create corridors and labirynths. /Pictures form schooltrip/

  18. Mikołaj Kopernik astronomer who formulated the first modern heliocentric theory of the solar system.

  19. Ignacy Łukasiewicz made a kerosene lamp and invented a way to refine kerosene.

  20. Tadeusz Kościuszko national hero, general and a leader of the Kościuszko Uprising against the Russian Empire. He fought in the AmericanRevolutionary War. Because of his service he was brevetted by the Continental Congress to the rank of Brigadier General.

  21. Fredric Chopin was  Polish composer  andvirtuosopianist.He is widely considered as one of thegreatestRomanticpiano composers. His works are recognized in all over the Word.

  22. Maria Skłodowska Curie famous physicist and chemist, who was a pionier in radioactivity research, the first double Nobel laureathe, the onle one ever in two different scienceand the first female profesor at Sorbone.

  23. John Paul II the first Polish Pope in history, was one of the most influential leaders of the 20th century. He helped to end Communist rule in Poland. John Paul II improved the Catholic Church's relations with other religions. Was beatified on 1 May 2011.

  24. Lech Wałęsa apolitician and human right activist. He was a lider of Solidarity, won the Nobel Peace Prize. Thanhe was a president of Poland.

  25. The Nobel Prizes in Literature were won by 4 Polish writers. • Academy Awards winners were 5 Polish movie directors • Jerzy Kukuczka climber, the second man to climb all fourteen eight-thousanders in the Word and the first man to climb three of them in winter.

  27. Football Football is the most popular sport in Poland. Over 400 000 peoplesplay football regulary. The first professional clubs were founded in the early 1900s, and thePolishnational football team playedfirstinternationalmatch in 1921. In 2012 Poland and Ukraineorganized UEFA Euro 2012.

  28. Voleyball Volleybal in Poland isnearly as popular as football. The Men's national team is ranked 3rd and the Women's team is ranked 13th in the FIVB World Rankings The bestvolleyballleague in Poland is Plus Liga.

  29. Ski Jumping Ski Jumping isone of the most popular sports in Poland. For several years, ski jumping was much popular than football, mostlybecause of Adam Małysz, who was one of the bestskijumpers in the history of Poland. The first ski jumping competition in Poland took place in Sławsko in1907.

  30. Handball Handball appeared in Poland in 1919. A lot of kidsplayhandball in schools. Polish national team first match took place in 1957. The most important achievements: 1st place in Supercup 2007 2nd place in World Cup 2007 3rd place in Olimpics Games 1976.

  32. Our region In our region there are four of 14 in Polandsites inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List

  33. Kraków Old Town is the historic central district of Kraków, which was the capitol of Poland from 1038 until King Sigismund III Vasa relocated his court to Warsaw in 1596.

  34. The Wieliczka Salt Mine, near Kraków continuously produced table salt from the 13th century. It is believed to be the world's 14th-oldest company.

  35. Auschwitz was the largest of the German concentration camps from the Secend World War. More than 1.100 000 men, women and children lost their lives here, The most was Jews.

  36. KalwariaZebrzydowska park- the religious complex (calvary) founded by Governor of Kraków in 1602. The city of Zebrzydów was established in 1617 in order to house the growing number of pilgrims visiting the religious complex.

  37. About 50 km. from our village is other interesting place - Łańcut castle - one of the most beautifly aristocratic residences in Poland, famous for its excellent interiors and extraordinary interesting collection of hourse drawn carriages.

  38. Clothes of the Native of Cracow are one of the most beautiful clothes of Polish people.

  40. The first records of education in Głowaczowa reach the end of the eighteenth century. In those days a school was built thanks to priest and was a wooden hut with one classroom. During the warfare the building burnt down in the 1944. However, the school was soon restored thanks to the efforts of local people. In 1948, the first bell rang. In those days there were five forms. Next some children continued their education in thenearstvillages or town Dębica.

  41. The building of today’s school was built in 1997.

  42. The school comprises 9 teachers / and a few from other school/ and service personnel . Our school counts 70 students on the primary level and 29 in secendary school.

  43. In 2010 our school got the name of John Paul II.In the assembly hall there is a sculptured bust and a memorial board of our Pope. Our students set up a "memory chamber" where a lot of exhibits connectedto the patron saint can be seen. A Patron Saint Day is a school tradition. It's celebrated annually on the 18th of May.

  44. Apart fromtheschoolbuildingwith a gyminsideitthereisalso a sports stadium with a football pitch. Our students take part in many different contests gaining very high scores and winning thebest places.
