  3. Introduction • The early settlers walked from place to place in order to travel. • Horses were used as a form of transportation during the mid 1800-1900’s. • A wagon was attached to the horse or stagecoach to carry people and cargo.

  4. HORSES Horses were used to travel. INSERT PICTURE They were also used to herd cattle to market. INSERT PICTURE Horses were used to pull stagecoaches and wagons.

  5. WAGONS • Wagons were used as a form of transportation for settlers to travel. INSERT PICTURES Wagon trains were formed for groups of people to travel together.

  6. STAGECOACHES Stagecoaches were used to transport peopleand cargo. Some stagecoaches were equipped with special features such as curtains and padded seats. INSERT PICTURES

  7. Transcontinental Railroad • Settlers worked together to prepare areas of the country for railroad tracks. • Railroads were used to ship cattle and other goods to market. • Trains were used to carry passengers to various destinations. INSERT PICTURE
