  8. Syllabus

  9. Each of you should have a copy of the syllabus – it can also be found on our class website • Your parents or guardians must sign • Return your signed syllabus to class by Friday, August 22 Syllabus

  10. IXL counts towards your academic grade. You are expected to work towards proficient scores on monthly topics and this will be graded • No retakes on quizzes, only tests • Late work is due within 2 weeks or no credit • Only 4 bathroom breaks available in a trimester – use them wisely! BIG Changes This Year:

Academic (letter) grade: • 40% tests and quizzes • Remember that only tests can be retaken if you complete a Request to Retest • Both tests and quizzes can be corrected for half credit • 10% Trimester Final • 10% Math Notebook • 30% Participation & Practice Standards • 10% IXL How Am I Graded?

  12. Work Habits & Effort • 40% Homework • Only accepted up to 2 weeks late for partial credit • 40% Classwork • Warm-ups, review-previews • 20% Planner & Supplies • Full credit for bring all required supplies and keeping an up to date planner How Am I Graded?

  13. At least three pencils ready to use each day • Eraser • Highlighters • Colored Pencils • Index Cards • Glue Stick • Scissors • White Board Markers • Scientific calculator (NOT A PHONE OR IPOD) • Planner Necessary Supplies

  14. Must be a 5 section, college ruled notebook • Please have yours on Monday with all the pages numbered! Interactive Notebooks

  15. Middle School Students are: • Polite • Respect all nouns: people, places, things, and ideas • Prepared • Bring all necessary materials to class every day • Persistent • You can achieve anything if you stick with it! Classroom Expectations

  18. Wait at the door until I open it and welcome every student • Place backpacks on hooks by the door • Bring supplies, homework, notebook to your assigned seat Classroom Procedures

  19. Work on warm-up • Discuss and correct homework in your team, place in folder • Make sure you ask questions on problems you don’t understand! • Work in your team on day’s lesson Classroom Procedures

  20. Take any notes and complete all required notebook elements • Ensure that you have the daily homework sheet • Wait until the bell rings to leave class – no lining up at the door! Classroom Procedures

  23. Stands for “Learning From Your Mistakes” This area will have the necessary papers for corrections and retakes of quizzes and tests LFYM

  24. As you achieve your math goals, improve your effort or grades, and correct any mistakes you make, you may be featured on the sensational saints wall! Remember – teachers love students that work hard, have a good attitude, and are willing to participate. Be sensational! Sensational Saints

  25. Reading is awesome! So if you want to borrow a book from me, you may check one out from our bookshelf. Please make sure you ask first – these are my personal books! Class Library

  26. We will be working in groups almost every day! Our focus this year in math class is on improving collaboration, fulfilling team roles, and accomplishing lesson goals Team Work

  27. We have a Chrome Book cart in the back room These computers are shared with room 804 You have been assigned a computer number, and you are responsible for taking care of that Chrome Book when we use them in class Chrome Books
