  2. Schedule • 8:45-10:35 Spanish Lang. Arts • 10:35-10:50 Recess • 10:50-12:00 Math • 12:00-12:45 Lunch • 12:45-1:15 Math • 1:15-1:45 English Lang. Arts • 1:45-2:00 Recess • 2:00-3:00 English • 3:00-3:15 Homework

  3. Classroom Expectations • Responsible • Independent worker • Problem solver • Work in small groups • Organization • Participation • Time management • Respect others

  4. Grading Rubric • 1 means below grade level • 2 means approaching • 3 means at grade level • 4 means above grade level

  5. Reading • In K-2nd the focus is on learning to read. • In 3rd-6th the focus is on reading to learn. • This means that the focus is on understanding or comprehending the text. • Strategies for improving comprehension: highlighting, note taking, writing summaries

  6. Homework • Due daily – reading for 20 minutes (Successmaker, Raz-Kids, PIPO) • Spelling & math packet due on Friday

  7. Field Trips • Old Town/ Heritage Museum • Ruben H. Fleet Science Museum/IMAX movie

  8. Volunteer Information • TB test required • Field trip chaperone • Work with small groups or individual students
