  14. Employee Voice • Is all about a meaningful relationship with employees. This means: • Their views are actively sought • They can speak out and challenge • They are given recognition and praise • They feel they are listened to and that their opinions count and make a difference Engage for Success

  16. Recognise any of these listening habits? The Advice Giver May jump in too quickly before the speaker has the chance to articulate their thoughts • The Faker • They nod but its clear they aren’t listening • The interrupter • They can’t wait for you to finish The Rebuttal Maker Listens only to find a rebuttal The Dominating Speaker Uses the message only to get their point across The Intellectual or Logical Listener They are interestedin what’s behind the message and are judging based on what they already know Engage for Success

  18. Exercise • The nominated team leader has received the results of the Civil Service People Survey. You are having a meeting to discuss the results. • One of you will lead the conversation – to provide a team briefing and gain views from the team. • Members of the team are to treat this as if they are in the workplace taking part in a team briefing. Engage for Success

One action I will take to make a difference... • Break into threes and identify one action that you want to take as a result of today • In 5 minutes, the ball will be thrown at random to people in the group • When you catch the ball, describe your action before throwing the ball to someone else
