  4. Connections using Fresenius Medical Care products Note: for clarity the model is shown not wearing personal protective equipment (PPE). Follow your facility’s policies and procedures for use of personal protective equipment. It is vital to maintain sterility of the connectors during connection procedures.

  6. Safe-Lock Systems Please note Safe-Lock systems include: • Delflex Premier Plus exchange set • Freedom Y-set with snap disconnect • All Freedom cycler tubing sets • Newton cycler set with safe lock connectors • 8 Lead Safe-Lock Manifold set

Safe-Lock® patient to Baxter supplies Type II adapter on catheter Universal Connector P/N # 050-30026 4 inch convertible extension set Extension set with roller clamp Pre-filled Universal Connector P/N # 050-30031 Premier transfer set A Universal Connector (P/N #050-30026) or Pre-filled Universal Connector (P/N #050-30031) will connect to any of the patient catheter or catheter extension sets shown above.

  8. Safe-Lock patient to Baxter supplies Gather supplies Pre-filled Universal Connector Baxter tubing solution set and related supplies for transfer set connection and exchange procedure. Baxter extension set

  9. Safe-Lock patient to Baxter supplies 1 2 • Hold Premier transfer set • Untwist tubing segment secured with DEL-CLAMP clamp. • Remove tubing segment from patient’s catheter 3

  10. Safe-Lock patient to Baxter supplies 4 4. Remove sealing cap from large end of Universal Connector. 5. Attach Universal Connector to patient’s catheter 6. Remove the sterility protector from the small end of the Universal Connector. 5 6

  11. Safe-Lock patient to Baxter supplies 7 7. Remove the sterility protector from the Baxter extension set. 8. Attach the Baxter extension set to the Universal Connector. Proceed with exchange. 8

  13. DISCHARGE INSTRUCTIONSFOR ALL CONNECTIONS • The patient should return to his/her home or clinic with the additional extension in place. This practice will allow the patient to return home and resume dialysis without interruption. • Instruct the patient to remove any adaptors added to their extension set at the beginning of the next exchange or as directed by the PD clinic nurse.

  14. Choose the type of catheter or transfer set and the type of system utilized. Look down the column and across the row to the adapter needed. Click on the icon in the box to take you to the procedure
