  1. 11-3 Exploring Mendelian Genetics

  2. Independent Assortment The 2 Factor Cross: F1 RRYY x rryy What does it give us? The 2 Factor Cross: F2 What does it give us?

  3. Define Independent Assortment in your own words

  4. Mendel’s Principles • Genes are passed on from parents to their offspring • In the case when there are 2 or more alleles for one gene, one may be dominant and one recessive • Segregation of genes happens during meiosis • The alleles that are segregated, segregate independently

  5. Incomplete Dominance • One allele is not completely dominant over another

  6. Co dominance • Both alleles contribute to the phenotype

  7. Multiple alleles • More than two alleles control a trait

  8. Polygenic Traits • Traits are controlled by 2 or more genes • Eg. Eye color • Skin color (4 genes)

  9. If you haven’t done 11.3 assessment questions.. Do them now. If you have lets go through the answers
