  2. Where ATEM Has Been • Began within a College of Advanced Education in Victoria, Aust • Became AITEA • Restructured into ATEM • Incorporated in Australia and NZ • Two Constitutions • Two Foundations

  3. ATEM in 2006 • Structured Along “Federal” Lines. One Branch in each State and Territory of Australia, and one in New Zealand. • Directly-Elected President and Standing Executive, Secretariat in Canberra • Governing Council, With Constituent Committees. • Foundations • Many Members thought they joined a Queensland/ SA/NSW/NZ et al ATEM

ISSUES • No Sense of Belonging to a Single Cohesive Professional Association. • Came together only for Annual Conference • Each Branch a Separate “Fiefdom” With Full (duplicated) Overheads. • Most Went Through “Tough” Periods Financially. • Council Expected to do PLENTY with no Income. • YET, $A850,000 in Deposit Accounts Scattered Around the Branches

  5. THE REFORMED ATEM • A SINGLE Association for ALL. • ALL Join ATEM Inc • Focused Secretariat • ONE Bank Account • Investments Managed By ATEM Foundation - Growth and Income Investments • Regional Budgets - Modern Banking Structure • STRONG PD Focus • Council is the Decision-Making Body

  6. Membership • Corporate Members: VC plus 4 Direct Reports. Why? • Individual Membership • Membership Grades: Member, Associate Fellow, Fellow • Honours :-) Hon Fellow

  7. Role of Regions • Have a Focus on Professional Development • PD is for the Sector, not just Members • Regions Funded from ATEM Through Budgets Approved by Council • Regional Control Over Budgeted Spending • Regional Leadership of PD Through Chair and Committee • Need Very Active PD Focus

ATEM Inc • ATEM Inc is Council (Elected President, Regional Chairs, Elected Executive) and Secretariat • Manages ATEM as Professional Association • Sets Strategy • Manages Membership, Banking, Resource Use • Has Executive (Reduced Role) and FMAC • Appointed PD Coordinator to Develop PD and Work with Regions

  9. ATEM Foundation • Separate Legal Entity • The Investment Arm for ATEM Inc and for Foundation Funds • Role to Provide Additional Funds For ATEM • Appointed Board • Able to Receive Donations and Link With Industry Partners • Growth Funds for Foundation: Income Funds for ATEM Inc

What’s Up? • Maree Conway Appointed PD Coordinator - Was To Be Speaking Today • Based Out of Secretariat With Giles/Peter/? • Massaro Consulting Assisted with PD Review of ATEM Inc (On the web) • Not Everything About Our PD OR Focus Is “Rosy” • Needs Regions To Engage With Massaro Report, AND Advise Maree.

  11. What’s Up (2)? • Completion of Council and AGM Approved Reforms • Commonwealth Bank Setting Up New Banking - ASB in Aotearoa Region • Investment and Existing Funds Moving to Single Account • Elections Completed Soon for Regional Chairs and Committees • Institutional Coordinators (Area in NZ)

  12. What’s Up (3)? • Change Management Group Established With September Timeline • Led By Stephen Weller, PVC Students from University of Victoria, Melbourne • Casual Vacancy for VP, Filled By Council - Stephen Weller.
