  6. When the Soviet Union developed its own nuclear weapons in 1949 the “Nuclear Age” truly started. Wars would never be the same again. Nuclear Age Now, a war could literally mean the end of human existence as we know it.

  11. Mutually Assured Destruction Nuclear Deterrence One side cannot win a nuclear war, because it is assured that it will be destroyed as well. By having multiple ways of delivering weapons to retaliate, stability is assured. M.A.D. (That says it all) (Deter: Convince somebody not to do something)
