  2. Population of calusa Did you know the Calusa tribe controlled most of south Florida? The populations of the tribe almost reached 50,000 people. The Calusa men had long hair and were well built. They were fierce and war-like people.

  3. How the calusa’s lived The Calusa lived in the coast of the inner water ways. You might think the Calusa’s farmed like other Indian tribes but they were different because they didn’t farm.

  4. How they built their homes… The Calusa’s built their homes on stilts and wove palmetto leaves and they had no walls. Did you know that the Calusa’s were the first shell collectors ?

  5. How they made tool’s The Calusas did not make pottery items like other Indians. Did you know the shells that the women and kids got were used for tools? The boys and men made nets to caught fish like mullet, pigfish, and catfish.
