Grants are funds provided without requiring repayment, intended for government, nonprofits, universities, and individuals. They serve various purposes and come in several types, including categorical grants for specific needs, block grants for broader purposes, and general-purpose assistance. A significant portion of federal grants is allocated to formula grants, with a higher number of smaller project grants. Each presidential administration may influence the availability and types of grants. Proper application requires strict adherence to guidelines and alignment with the grant's intended use.
