  3. Solve Using Algebra • In 1902 you could buy 44 loaves of bread for the cost of 1 loaf in 2006. If a loaf a bread in 2006 cost $1.72 more than a loaf in 1902, what was the price of a loaf of bread in 1902?

  4. Do It With Algebra • Elliot bought some cookies. On his way home he gave ½ of them and ½ a cookie to his mom. He ran into his aunt on his way to CR and gave her ½ of the remaining cookies and ½ of a cookie. Just before coming to class he was stopped by an old friend and he gave her ½ of the remaining cookies and ½ of a cookie. When he got to his desk he had ½ dozen cookies left. How many did he start with?
