Progress Report on Kharif Plan 2010-11: Agricultural Innovations in Assam

  8. Pulses • The present area under pulses 1.19 lakh ha, Additional 1 lakh ha to be brought under pulses • The present productivity of pulses 560 kg/ha which is to be increased by 40% (i.e. 784 kg/ha)

  9. Oilseeds • Present area : 2.76 lakh ha • Productivity : 529 kg/ha • Additional 1 lakh ha can be brought under oilseeds • Productivity to be enhanced to 1 tonne/ha

  11. Strategies for wheat production • Short duration high yielding variety with resistance to pre-harvest sprouting 2 lines - recorded 97% resistant to PHS 8 lines - recoded 80-90% resistant to PHS • Post-harvest handling - mechanical threshing • Irrigation • Low cost seed storage

  13. Wheat variety HUW 468 • Parentage: Lira‘S’/HUW 206//Toni/Parula • Special Features: • Maturity : Early (105-110 days) • Yield (irrigated) : High (25-30 q/ha) • Protein Content : 12.1% • Threshability : Easy • Chapati quality : Good • Disease reaction : Tolerant to Leaf Blight

  17. Plan for Modern HYV Rice Land Coverage = 10.0 lakh ha Land per district : Seed required : Approx. 41500 ha × 24 districts 40000 ton 5 blocks per district @ 8200 ha each (Approx.) AAU’s share : 5000 ton State’s share : 35000 ton • Varieties : Bahadur, Ranjit, Kanaklata, Gitesh etc. • Targeted production : 50 lakh ton (@ 5 t/ha)

  18. Plan for Hybrid Rice Land Coverage = 1.5 lakh ha Land per district : Seed required : 1500 ton 11500 ha × 13 districts 5 blocks per district @ 2300 ha each (Approx) To be procured : 1500 ton • Varieties : Arize 6444 etc. • Targeted production : 6 lakh ton (@ 6 t/ha)

  19. Plan for Aromatic Rice Land Coverage = 1.5 lakh ha Seed required : Land per district : 6000 ton 7500 ha × 20 districts 5 blocks per district @ 1500 ha each (Approx) To be collected : 6000 ton • Varieties : Keteki, Bakul Joha etc • Targeted production : 3.75 lakh ton (@ 2.5 t/ha)

  20. Plan for Glutinous Rice Land Coverage = 0.57 lakh ha Land per district : Seed required : 2000 ton 2800 ha × 20 districts 5 blocks per district @ 570 ha each To be collected : 2000 ton • Varieties : Aghoni, Bhogali etc. • Targeted production : 1.7 lakh ton (@ 3.0 t/ha)
