  3. Biome • North Pacific and South Pacific • Lives in the bottom of the water • It needs 50,000 gallons of water to survive • It migrates from hot to colder waters

  4. Life Cycle • Blue whales carry their young for a year • They have one baby at a time • Carnivore • Life span 80 to 90 years

  5. Adaptations • It survives in the cold waters • The hair in its mouth helps catch the food • They are camouflaged • They swim very fast when they’re hunted

  6. Reasons for Endangered Status • Attacked by sharks ,killer whales and people • Their food is disappearing • They’re hunted for the blubber • There been 30,000 blue whales killed

  7. Conservation • There are 5,000 Blue Whales left • 1966 legal protection from commercial whaling • Pick up litter so it doesn’t go in the ocean

  8. Fun Facts • Blue whales bigger than 30 elephants • They eat the smallest food in the ocean • Their tail is as large as a soccer net • Their heart is the size of a car
