  1. Counting BugsUnit designed by Christy McBee Smith,Gordon County School System, 2006 Standards Addressed: MKN1: Students will connect numerals to the quantities they represent. Count a number of objects up to 30. MKP1: Students will solve problems that arise in mathematics and in other contexts. b. With the use of manipulatives, solve routine word problems related to all appropriate kindergarten math standards. MKP5: Students will create and use pictures, manipulatives, models, and symbols to organize, record, and communicate mathematical ideas.

  2. Stepwise Instructional Task WorksheetEarly Elementary Mathematics Numbers: Bugs

  3. Insect handheld stamps created by hot gluing wooden pegs to the backs of flat stamps

  4. Colored dots placed where students need to stamp their insects.
