3. Code of Conduct & Teacher Expectations • Students are expected to follow the Code of Conduct and rules generated by our Team 4-4 at all times. • Students are required to come to class prepared with all necessary materials. • Homework is an integral part of the learning experience. All homework is expected to be completed by the due date.

4. Class procedures Travel In the Building: • Move quietly in a single file line, keeping hands, feet, and objects to yourself. • The student leading the line will stop at every corner and archway (midway point in the hallway) and on each stairwell landing. • The line leader will then look back for the “hand wave” signal from the teacher to continue to the next stopping point. • If the hallway is crowded, and the line leader does not see the teacher’s signal, the class may pass the “hand wave” quietly to the line leader. Morning Homeroom: • Enter room quietly and go directly to your seat. • Unpack and put important papers in the basket on Ms. Marku’s desk. • Put belongings NEATLY in the closet. • Sharpen pencils and use to restroom if necessary. • Complete morning homeroom jobs. • Read quietly at your desk.

5. Class procedures Afternoon Homeroom: • Enter room quietly and go directly to your seat. • Check agenda pad and gather books and folders to go home. • Pack up and be sure to get all your belongings from closet. • Stack your chair and wait for your bus to be called. • Line up in bus order once your bus is called. At the Beginning of Class: • Enter room quietly and go directly to your seat. • Take out last night’s homework. • Copy tonight’s homework. • Start Do Now that is on the board. • If finished early…solve math problems, read, journal, work in early finisher folder

6. Class procedures When You Need Leave the Room for Bathroom/Drink: • You will use a hand signal (make a fist, tucking your thumb between your first two fingers) when you need to leave the room for the bathroom or to get a drink. • Speaking is not necessary; using this signal will let the teacher know you need to leave the room. • Sign out and take the appropriate pass before leaving. Sign in and return the pass after returning. • Student use of water bottles in the classroom is only permitted with a doctor’s note. On hot days students will be allowed to take group drinks breaks at the discretion of the teacher.

7. Homework Daily Homework Review: • Homework is given every night, including Friday night, and students are expected to complete it daily. • Homework must be brought to class the day and time it is due. Teacher will check homework while students work on Do Now. • Homework must be brought to class and turned in the day and time it is due. Students who turn in incomplete or late homework will not receive credit for it. • Homework may be collected or checked together in a class. If homework is reviewed together, students will check with a pen. Homework may be collected and graded at any time. • If a homework assignment is not complete or incomplete Ms. Marku will circle and initial the assignment in the student’s agenda pad. If the homework was not written down, Ms. Marku will write also write a note in the agenda pad. • Agenda pads will be checked at random to ensure that students are writing down their homework. Homework not written results in loss of a responsibility sticker.

8. Math Objectives & Curriculum Math- Objectives • Students will develop un understanding of the mathematical concepts regarding addition, subtraction, multiplication , and division with un emphasis on fractions and decimals. • Students will build a foundation for advanced learning of mathematical concepts. • Students will apply previously learned material to more advanced and multi stepped problems. Math- Curriculum • Place Value and Operation with whole numbers ( Addition & Subtraction). • Multiplication ( By 1 & 2 digit numbers)and Division ( by I digit numbers). • Factors , Multiples & Patterns. • Operations with Fractions and decimals. • Geometry, Measurements and Data.

9. Science Objectives & Curriculum Science- Objectives • Students will develop un understanding of the Life, Earth & Physical Sciences. • Students will learn factual information participate in hands-on activities and experiments, observe teacher demonstrations, and integrate technology , math, and language skills into the Science curriculum. Science- Curriculum • Life Science-Unit A&B( From Cells to Ecosystem , Plants & Animals, Life processes). • Earth Science- Unit C&D( Earth History and surface, Earth water & weather). • Physical Science- Unit E & F( Matter, Energy & Electricity)

10. Social Studies Objectives & Curriculum Social Studies Objectives • Students will develop an understanding and appreciation for the history of New Jersey. • Students will be educated with the areas of NJ history, institutions, environment, and geography. Social Studies –Curriculum • Geography(Themes of Geography, Locations, Maps , Continents, Oceans, Directions). • History of New Jersey ( Lenape’s life till World War ) • New Jersey’s Counties and Government

11. Grading Policies(Parent Portal) • Tests & Quizzes-70 % • Homework – 10 % • Class work /Class participation -20%( Include projects) Tests and quizzes will be sent home on Fridays.Pleasecheck the Parent Portal for updates regarding grades/assignments. Homework is always due the next day unless otherwise stated. Projects turned in one day late will be penalized 10 points a day. After a week,azero will be placed in the grade book.

12. Folders & Books • Students have been given a two pocket folder for each subject ( Math-green, Science- Red, Social Studies- Blue, Friday Folder – Yellow). Friday folder should be returned every Monday with a parent’s signature for each paper graded. • Students are responsible for Math /Science / Social Studies text book, as all books have to be returned by the end of the school year. Parents will be billed from the school administration for lost of any book.

13. Parent Cooperation and Participation • I hope that your child has an exciting year in 4th grade Math, Science , and Social Studies. I am looking forward to a productive year teaching your child. My goals for these classes includes motivating your child to succeed and learn many important topics. In order to ensure that your child is successful, I recommended that you help your child to be organized and prepared everyday. I have a Website and I update with handouts and useful links. Additionally , I know that children are given more responsibility as they get older but please monitor homework assignments so they are completed on time. Homework is a great way for me to gauge understanding of a topic, and therefore, is extremely important that is completed daily. • Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
